The JAM54D40 is built on JA Solar's fourth-generation DeepBlue N-type monocrystalline silicon platform. N-type cells are doped with phosphorus rather than boron, eliminating the boron-oxygen defects responsible for light-induced degradation (LID) in P-type cells. The result is a first-year degradation of ≤ 1% and annual degradation of ≤ 0.4% — significantly better than P-type PERC — ensuring the module delivers more energy over its 30-year lifetime and maintains a higher residual value at end of project.
Up to 22.4% Efficiency
The JAM54D40-460W achieves up to 22.4% module efficiency — among the highest in the 54-cell format — enabled by advanced cell passivation, optimised anti-reflective coating, and multi-busbar interconnection. The bifacial design captures reflected irradiance from the rear surface, adding 5–30% additional energy yield depending on installation type and albedo. Half-cut cell technology reduces resistive losses and improves shade tolerance, ensuring the module continues generating at near-full power even under partial shading conditions.

The N-type cell architecture delivers a temperature coefficient of Pmax at −0.30%/°C — better than standard P-type PERC modules (typically −0.35%/°C). This means the JAM54D40 loses less power on hot summer days, generating more energy over the full year in warm climates. The module also demonstrates superior low-light performance, maintaining a higher percentage of rated power in the morning, evening, and overcast conditions — maximising daily energy harvest across all weather conditions.
30-Year Warranty
The JAM54D40 is certified to withstand 2,400 Pa wind load and 5,400 Pa snow load, and passes IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 reliability testing including damp heat (1,000 hours), thermal cycling (200 cycles), and UV pre-conditioning. JA Solar backs the module with a 12-year product warranty and a 30-year linear power output warranty — guaranteeing ≥ 87.4% of rated power at year 30.
