The ATESS PBD250 is a 250 kW transformerless DC-DC solar charge controller designed for large-scale solar + storage projects. It works in conjunction with ATESS PCS and Bypass units, featuring 5 MPPTs, 99% peak efficiency, and parallel expandability.

5 Independent MPPTs — 250 kW PV Input

The PBD250 features 5 independent MPPT trackers, each accepting up to 115A input current, for a combined maximum PV input of 250 kW. The MPPT voltage range spans 350V–850V (full-load range 480V–850V), accommodating a wide variety of PV string configurations. This multi-MPPT architecture maximises energy harvest from arrays with mixed orientations, partial shading, or different string lengths.

99% Peak Efficiency — Transformerless Design

The transformerless topology eliminates bulky magnetic components, achieving a maximum charge efficiency of 99% and a standby power consumption below 100W. The output voltage range of 600V–900V with a maximum charge current of 416A makes the PBD250 directly compatible with the ATESS PCS high-voltage DC bus, minimising conversion losses across the entire solar-to-storage energy chain.

Modular Design — Multiple Units Parallelable

Multiple PBD250 units can be paralleled to scale PV charging capacity in proportion to project size, without redesigning the DC bus architecture. The modular cabinet (800 × 1900 × 650 mm, 289 kg) integrates a touch-screen display, RS485/CAN communication, and forced-air cooling — enabling straightforward installation, commissioning, and maintenance in utility-scale solar + storage plants.

Designed for demanding deployment environments, the PBD250 operates from −25°C to +55°C and at altitudes up to 6,000 m (with derating above 3,000 m). Comprehensive protection covers input/output over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, short circuit, over-temperature, Type II lightning, DC breaker, and emergency stop — ensuring reliable long-term operation in remote and high-altitude solar installations.
