System Overview

Aurea Energy has designed and delivered a high-performance 200kW on-grid solar system for a commercial rooftop installation in Morocco. This system leverages tier-1 650W N-type bifacial solar panels paired with dual Solis S6-100K string inverters, delivering clean, reliable power directly to the facility while exporting surplus to the grid.

The rooftop spans approximately 126m × 18m with a slope of around 10 degrees (eave height 6.7m, ridge height 8.29m). Total load demand is less than 206 KVA, making this 208kWp array an ideally sized generation asset. The system is projected to generate approximately 406.7 MWh of electricity per year, delivering significant savings on electricity costs.

System Components

Every major component in the 200kW on-grid system is sourced from tier-1 manufacturers and selected for proven field performance. Below is a detailed breakdown of each core subsystem.

PV Module — 650W N-Type Bifacial

The system uses high-efficiency N-Type bifacial modules featuring SMBB (Super Multi Busbar) technology for better light trapping and current collection. With bifacial gain, module output increases 5–25%, significantly lowering LCOE and improving IRR.

  • PID Resistance — Excellent Anti-PID performance through optimized cell structure
  • Hot 2.0 Technology — Better reliability and lower LID/LETID degradation
  • Enhanced Mechanical Load — Certified for wind load (2400 Pa) and snow load (5400 Pa)
  • Tier-1 Brand — Long warranty and proven bankability

Inverter — Solis S6-100K (×2)

The Solis S6-100K is a high-performance three-phase string inverter with 10 MPPTs and 20 input strings. With a maximum efficiency of ≥99.0% and a maximum PV input of 100kWp, it is ideally matched to the 208kWp array through two units operating in parallel.

  • Rated Power: 100kW (110kW max) × 2 units = 200kW total
  • MPPT Configuration: 10 MPPTs per unit, 20 strings total per inverter
  • Max. Input Current: 10 × 42A per inverter
  • Certifications: CE, IEC 62109, IEC 61727, IEC 61683, IEC 62116, IEC 60068, IEC 61000

Mounting System — Roof Installation

A custom-engineered roof mounting solution accommodates the sloped roof profile (126m × 18m, ~10° slope). The system supports multiple roof types including tile/slate, corrugated sheet metal, trapezoidal sheet metal, and standing seam. Adjustable connections compensate for uneven rafters, and stainless steel roof hooks ensure long-term corrosion resistance.

Monitoring System

A high-performance data logger provides comprehensive system monitoring, collecting operational data from all units via Modbus RS485 and communicating with the server via internet. The local webserver enables easy on-site configuration, and the system supports export control with compatible meters. Module-level rapid shutdown devices provide per-panel monitoring for maximum visibility and safety.

ROI & System Advantages

With a typical payback period of less than 2 years, this on-grid solar system represents a compelling investment for commercial operations in Morocco. High solar irradiation, rising electricity costs, and the ability to sell surplus energy to the grid combine to deliver rapid returns and decades of near-zero-cost electricity.

Fast Payback ROI in under 2 years through reduced electricity bills and grid export revenue.
Grid Export Revenue Sell surplus electricity back to the grid during peak generation hours for additional income.
Clean Energy Zero-emission solar power — key to achieving sustainability targets and reducing carbon footprint.
Energy Independence Reduce exposure to volatile grid electricity prices and secure long-term predictable energy costs.
