Project Introduction

Aurea Energy has designed a compact 15kW / 30kWh Hybrid Energy Storage System for a residential client in Belgium. Built around the Deye SUN-15K-SG01HP3-EU-AM2 three-phase hybrid inverter, this system provides reliable backup power, solar self-consumption optimisation, and intelligent energy management for the modern Belgian home.

The hybrid architecture integrates a 10kWp solar PV array (2 strings of 8 panels) with a 30kWh LFP battery bank through a single intelligent inverter. During normal operation, solar energy powers the home loads directly, with surplus stored in the battery. In the event of a grid outage, the system automatically switches to backup mode — powering essential household loads from the battery. The main meter connection enables full energy monitoring and smart tariff optimisation.

Deye Hybrid Inverter — The Core

The SUN-15K-SG01HP3-EU-AM2 is a three-phase hybrid inverter from Deye, a tier-1 global manufacturer. It supports simultaneous PV input, battery charging/discharging, and AC output — all managed through an integrated EMS that optimises energy flow based on real-time conditions.

  • Three-Phase Output — 400V AC compatible with European residential grids
  • Seamless Backup Switching — Automatic transfer to battery power during grid outages
  • Intelligent Load Management — Separates home loads from backup loads for optimal energy allocation
  • Remote Monitoring — Full system visibility and control via mobile app and web portal

System Architecture

The system employs a clean single-inverter hybrid topology. The 16-panel PV array feeds DC power directly into the Deye inverter through two MPPT channels. The 30kWh LFP battery connects via the inverter's dedicated battery terminals (B+/B- and BCW1 communication port). On the AC side, the main meter sits between the utility grid and the main breaker, providing the inverter with real-time grid data. Downstream, the AC breaker splits into two branches: the normal home load circuit and a dedicated backup load circuit — ensuring critical appliances remain powered during outages while non-essential loads are shed automatically.

Project Benefits

Belgium's residential electricity prices are among the highest in Europe, making solar-plus-storage an increasingly attractive investment. This 15kW / 30kWh hybrid system delivers measurable savings and energy security for Belgian homeowners.

Core Functions

  • 1
Solar Self-Consumption Maximisation During daylight hours, solar generation powers the home directly. Excess energy is stored in the 30kWh battery rather than exported to the grid at low feed-in tariffs. Stored energy is then discharged during evening and overnight hours — minimising grid imports when electricity prices peak.
  • 2
Whole-Home Backup Power In Belgium, grid reliability is generally high but localised outages do occur. The Deye inverter's automatic transfer switch (ATS) ensures the backup load circuit receives uninterrupted power from the battery within milliseconds of a grid failure — protecting refrigeration, lighting, internet, and other essential loads.

Why This System Delivers

Reduced Electricity Bills Higher self-consumption means fewer kWh drawn from the grid — directly lowering monthly electricity costs in Belgium's high-tariff environment.
Energy Independence Generate, store, and consume your own clean energy. Less exposure to volatile wholesale electricity prices.
Grid Outage Protection Automatic backup switching keeps essential circuits live — heating, cooling, refrigeration, and connectivity.
Compact & Efficient Single-inverter design minimises installation footprint. Ideal for Belgian homes with limited technical space.
